NAVALIA 2024, the International Shipbuilding Industry Trade Fair, opened its doors on 21 May 2024 in Vigo, Spain. This prestigious event, which ran until 23 May, brought together more than 500 exhibitors and 1,000 brands, presenting the latest innovations in shipbuilding, maritime engineering, offshore technology and equipment for the sector.

Among the many shipyards present, Cabnave Estaleiros Navais de Cabo Verde, S.A., represented by the Executive Director, Areolino Delgado, and the Deputy Commercial Director, Mr Ivan Monteiro, stood out. CABNAVE’s presence at NAVALIA 2024 is promoted by a business mission organised by the Barlavento Chamber of Commerce, with the aim of strengthening and expanding its network of business partners, promoting its services and absorbing the latest technologies applied in the sector.

On May 28, 2024, Cabnave Estaleiros Navais de Cabo Verde, S.A., held its Ordinary General Meeting at the company’s premises, with the aim of assessing and deliberating on the results of the 2023 financial year.

The agenda included essential items such as the assessment and deliberation on the Management Report and Accounts for 2023, the deliberation on the allocation of the results for that year, among other matters of relevant interest to the company.

The General Meeting was attended by members of Cabnave’s governing bodies, including the representative of the State, as majority shareholder, Nádia Teixeira, Portfolio Manager of the State Business Sector Monitoring Unit (UASE), as well as other shareholders of the company.

During the session, the financial and operational results for 2023 were presented and discussed, highlighting Cabnave’s main challenges and achievements. The deliberation on the allocation of the results was aimed at defining strategies for reinvesting and distributing profits, with a view to ensuring the company’s sustainable growth.

This annual meeting is extremely important for transparency and strengthening corporate governance, allowing shareholders and managers to align their expectations and outline the next steps for Cabnave’s development. Through this event, the company reaffirms its commitment to management and the continuous search for improvements that guarantee its prominent position in the naval sector.

Cabnave Estaleiros Navais de Cabo Verde, S.A. reinforces its commitment to the preservation of Pedra de Doca, a gesture of sponsorship that underlines the proximity and importance of this site both for the city of Mindelo and for the company itself.

This commitment was formalized on June 4, 2024, with the placement of a plaque identifying Cabnave as the beach’s sponsor. This symbolic act marks the beginning of a series of actions dedicated to the protection and enhancement of Pedra de Doca.

With this formalization, Cabnave assumes responsibility for the regular cleaning of the beach, as well as promoting awareness campaigns aimed at preserving the oceans. In addition, the company undertakes to invest in improving access to the site, ensuring that Pedra de Doca continues to be a space valued by the community.

The Minister for the Sea, Abraão Vicente, was present at the plaque unveiling ceremony, highlighting the importance of this commitment to environmental conservation and the sustainable development of the São Vicente region.

As part of the meetings held by the Minister of the Sea to prepare the debate on the general state budget for 2024, the minister received the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cabnave, the Board of Directors of Enapor and the representative of the company Frescomar.

During the meeting with Cabnave’s CEO, the company’s main projects were discussed, with special emphasis on the rehabilitation of shipyards. The approval of the funding for this project was confirmed by the European Union during the Global Gateway meeting in Brussels.

Global Gateway’s financing also includes investments in Porto Grande, Porto Novo, Porto Inglês and Porto da Palmeira. In this context, the meetings with Enapor and Frescomar focused on mechanisms and strategies for improving fishing logistics in Cape Verde.

On November 22nd, we celebrate with great enthusiasm and pride the 40th anniversary of Cabnave – Estaleiros Navais de Cabo Verde, S.A., a significant milestone in the history of Cape Verde’s shipyards. This emblematic date was celebrated in the presence of the Minister of the Sea, Abraão Vicente, and the Mayor of São Vicente, Augusto Neves, who joined us to mark this special occasion.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cabnave – Estaleiros Navais de Cabo Verde, S.A., recently met with representatives of Dakarnave Shipyards in Dakar, Senegal. The main purpose of this visit was to strengthen the institutional relations that already exist between the two organisations.

During the meeting, various opportunities for mutual collaboration and sharing technical expertise were discussed, as well as strategies for developing joint projects that could benefit both companies. The representatives of both parties expressed great satisfaction with the meeting and stressed the importance of maintaining a continuous and constructive dialogue.

The main purpose of this visit was to get to know the company and explore opportunities for co-operation and synergy with the Indian shipbuilding industry.

During the visit, Ambassador Sanjeev Jain had the opportunity to see Cabnave’s facilities in detail, as well as learn about the projects currently underway. The company’s various sectors of activity were presented, including ship repair and maintenance, and the potential for future collaboration between Cape Verde and India in the naval sector was discussed.

It is important to note that India is recognised worldwide for its highly advanced and technologically innovative shipbuilding industry. This visit represents a significant step towards strengthening ties between the two countries and exploring new avenues of co-operation that can mutually benefit both nations.

In the last week of 2023, the Internal Audit, Budgetary Control and Performance Assessment Office presented the new Performance Assessment System to the employees of Cabnave Estaleiros Navais de Cabo Verde, S.A.. This system was developed with the aim of analysing and measuring the individual performance of each employee, aligning it with the strategic objectives set by the company.

The Performance Appraisal System aims not only to evaluate performance carefully and objectively, but also to identify areas for improvement and professional development.
