On Tuesday 30 April 2025, Cabnave – Estaleiros Navais de Cabo Verde, S.A. received a visit from economist Gunter Pauli, a recognised expert in sustainable solutions applied to the maritime sector, as part of an agenda dedicated to sustainable maritime development in Cape Verde. The visit took place in the presence of the Minister of the Sea and a delegation from the Ministry of the Sea.

On 4 April 2025, Cabnave – Estaleiros Navais de Cabo Verde had the honour of receiving a courtesy visit from the Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Cape Verde, Mr Jean-Marie Frentz, as part of his trip to São Vicente to visit prominent institutions linked to the maritime economy in Cape Verde, with a special focus on those operating out of the Port of Mindelo.

During his working visit to the Kingdom of Spain, the Minister of the Sea, Jorge Santos, accompanied by the Cape Verdean delegation and the Cape Verdean Ambassador to Spain, Dr Eduardo Jorge Silva, visited the Port of Vigo, where he held a working meeting with its President, Dr Carlos Botana Lagarón. One of the highlights of the visit was the discussion about naval training in Cape Verde, which is seen as a strategic vector for development.

The Board of Directors of Cabnave – Estaleiros Navais de Cabo Verde, S.A., recently met with the representatives of Estaleiros Navais da Lisnave, in Setúbal, Portugal. The main objective of this visit was to strengthen and deepen the already excellent institutional relations between the two entities.

During the meeting, several opportunities for collaboration and exchange of technical and operational knowledge were discussed. Both sides expressed great satisfaction with the outcome of the meeting and stressed the importance of maintaining a continuous and cooperative dialogue aimed at development and innovation in the field of shipbuilding and repair.

This initiative underlines Cabnave’s commitment to establishing strategic partnerships that promote the excellence and competitiveness of its services, as well as its determination to contribute to the sustainable growth of the naval sector in Cape Verde and beyond.

Minister of the Sea receives leaders of Cabnave, Enapor and Frescomar

As part of the meetings held by the Minister of the Sea to prepare the debate on the general state budget for 2024, the minister received the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cabnave, the Board of Directors of Enapor and the representative of the company Frescomar.

During the meeting with Cabnave’s CEO, the company’s main projects were discussed, with special emphasis on the rehabilitation of shipyards. The approval of the funding for this project was confirmed by the European Union during the Global Gateway meeting in Brussels.

Global Gateway’s financing also includes investments in Porto Grande, Porto Novo, Porto Inglês and Porto da Palmeira. In this context, the meetings with Enapor and Frescomar focused on mechanisms and strategies for improving fishing logistics in Cape Verde.

On November 22nd, we celebrate with great enthusiasm and pride the 40th anniversary of Cabnave – Estaleiros Navais de Cabo Verde, S.A., a significant milestone in the history of Cape Verde’s shipyards. This emblematic date was celebrated in the presence of the Minister of the Sea, Abraão Vicente, and the Mayor of São Vicente, Augusto Neves, who joined us to mark this special occasion.
